Stop The Rain

Bringing our hearts home with their debut release, Stop The Rain are an up-and-coming five piece alternative rock band from Perth, Scotland…

The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Blair Davie, bassist Sam Flood, vocalist and guitarist Sam Steele, keys player Ben Muir and drummer Kyle Fummey.

The band formed in late 2015, recording a three track EP with the original 4 piece line up that included saxophonist Chris Blair. After the departure of Chris, Sam Flood stepped in and took the role of bass player. Due to the line-up change, Stop The Rain changed their style dramatically to an alternative rock sound.

In the summer of 2016, they recorded their debut single “Home Is Where My Heart Is” which was released to all major platforms later on in the year. At the end of 2016, the band welcomed in their keyboard player Ben Muir as a full member. With raw, Scottish vocals from Blair and Sam the tune is one for all, and with their level of talent they could be easily mistaken for a well established act as opposed to a fairly new band on the scene. Check out the tune via the links below!

Whilst speaking to the band they gave us a little insight to how they got together and where their influences come from…

“We all got together towards the end of last year after playing in different bands beforehand. There are 5 of us, Konner, Russell, Mark, Jack and Oli and we’re all from Wishaw and Motherwell originally. We’re all influenced by a lot of different types of music, everything from the 1975 and Bruno Mars, to people like The Arctic Monkeys etc. We all have different styles of songwriting and all work really well together bouncing ideas off of one another. We like to experiment with different sounds and ideas, especially using loads of harmonies etc. We like to think we’re a big mix of different styles and haven’t resigned ourselves to a box, which I guess is good! “

LIONAL, are an indie/alternative pop band from Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland…

Consisting of Joshua Mackenzie, Russell Montgomery, Ross Haddow and Gogo McKerrow, in late 2015 the band signed to brand new independent label IMOUT Records and released their debut single ‘Season of Salt’ followed by a tour of Scotland to support its release.

This single has not only received airplay from national radio such as BBC Radio Scotland, but it also achieved worldwide airplay on syndicate radio show ‘Passport Approved’, most notably with frequent rotation on Los Angeles world famous KROQ!

They have received endless praise from numerous notable names, including from Jim Gellatly in The Scottish Sun describing them as “the fully formed article” who are “destined for big things”, and their rise in popularity since the single’s release proves just that.

Last year saw Lional make their television debut on STV’s Live at Five as well as being invited in for a live BBC Introducing session with Vic Galloway. The band played a series of high profile Scottish festivals throughout the summer, including Loopallu, Groove Festival, Tenement Trail and a triumphant set to a capacity crowd of over 1500 in the Hothouse tent at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

Wildflower are an acoustic duo of vocalists Amanda Bogle and Beth Graham from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire…

Inspired by artists such as the Black Keys, Joni Mitchell, Jack White and The Beatles, Wildflower’s original material aims for a blend of easy listening and nostalgic tunes, with a clear influence from blues rock and the 60’s psychedelic /folk era – with strong vocal harmonies being the main element.

Both Amanda and Beth have been making a living from gigging in local pubs and venues in the Wishaw/Motherwell area as live entertainment since early 2015, and as best friends have played and sang together many times. Due to being told often that they would make a great act together, and finding inspiration to create a female presence in their local music scene, Wildflower was formed at the start of 2017.

Even though they only formed at the start of this year, the gals have already played a fair handful of gigs including venues such as The 13th Note and Macsorely’s in Glasgow and the Motherwell Makes Music festival! They have even more lined up over the next few months, including The Gig in the Goil festival in May!

The Calm Fiasco are a Glasgow 4 piece made up by Del Morin (lead vocals/guitar), Greg Totten (backing vocals/guitar), Harry Fleming (backing vocals/bass), Andy McInnes (drums).
They’ve got a keen, devoted following in and around Glasgow which has allowed them to play a sold out ABC main hall supporting Vigo Thieves, and sell out headline shows at the world famous King Tuts Wah Wah Hut twice in less than a year! Despite being quite new to the scene, they are not afraid to go for the big sound and have been compared to The Killers, Interpol and The Strokes. With recent appearances at Tenement Trail, and King Tuts New Years Revolution, The Calm Fiasco are already heading for a massive summer after releasing their New EP which is out today and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us! Magic Trik

“Rock n roll is a void that’s missing in the music world right now, and we’re bringing it back with a vengeance!”

That’s what Magic Trik, a Scottish four piece heavy rock band, aims to do: take the new world of music by storm with old school rock n’ roll: blistering guitar solos, thundering drum fills, raw powerful bass licks, and vocals that express primal emotions and pull you into their songs.

Their vigorous live shows get their music and lyrics out to their fans in the best way possible. The songs are packed with energy and passion, and that comes across in the performance and gets the crowd fired up for more and more.

The band’s influences are a mix of different styles, as bassist Shaun Kilna states, “we work by bringing new ideas plucked from each member’s tastes and mix it together to create something new”. This gives the band a unique sound that still retains the old school blues-rock sound. In the words of guitarist Alek McMillan, “Within the bones of every song we create, there’s a blues heartbeat. That’s the secret to building up something new that’s innovative, but yet still retaining that old school sense of defiance”.

The band have been relentlessly playing shows and touring all over the UK, opening for acts such as Altered Sky and Speaking in Shadows. They have also headlined many of Glasgow’s famous venues such as the Garage, the Cathouse and the Classic Grand to name a few.

They released their debut EP “By the Stone” in July 2015 and have had great success with radio airplay all around the globe from America and Canada to Australia and the UK, as well as having been interviewed on Gerry Gallagher’s Wrock Radio in Los Angeles. Their EP has had very positive feedback, listen for yourself on their Soundcloud and Youtube channels via the links below!

Magic Trik are all about getting their songs out to everyone willing to listen. Their lyrics jump out from their songs and scream to be heard. Their message? Life may knock you down and push you into the corner, but rock n’ roll can save your life!

The guys also spoke of a new EP coming our way later this year so keep your eyes peeled and get following them on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with all the latest news!
