Singer/Songwriter duo Fenella recently released their debut single “I Will Not Win”, but we’d disagree… it’s definitely a winner!

The duo released their single “I Will Not Win” on 1st March on the Little Tiger label. The single is one to relax to, sending shivers down the listeners spine with beautiful vocals from Mairi. The combination of progressive chords on guitar and gentle notes on keyboard mix to produce a soothing melody, very reminiscent of Lana Del Rey/Kate Bush – esque vibes. The vocals start off very soft and mellow, building throughout the track, moving the audience and showing the impressive extent of Mairi’s vocals.

Following the release of their single they have a few gigs coming up, including the single launch this Sunday 19th March and they are also supporting A New International at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh the following Wednesday 22nd March! All details of these can be found on their Facebook page below… go give them a like and share!

“Fenella is a duo which includes Mairi Fenella writing and singing, and Jack Boyce on the guitar. They met playing together at college studying music and have been heavily influenced by a mix of old jazz such as Sammy David jr and Sarah Vaughan, and early rock such as the velvet underground and Leonard Cohen. Since then developing a rather individual sound. Fenella are adding more instrumentation recently such as the addition of a second guitar and piano on their new single “I will not win”. Currently with Katie Doyle, a jazz musician on keys”
